Funny

The United States says "this is the worst crisis of our history," Europe says, "we are worried," China says, "we are ready," and Latin America says, "welcome to the club."

My uncle the publisher and the tale of an idealist

Once a upon a time there was a true idealist. The need of justice for the victims of the genocide perpetrated during the last years of the Ottoman Empire was at the center of my uncle's life. Nothing mattered in this world more than the truth to be written and published. He did all he could do, and went into publishing and lived life around it. At the end of his days, he told me what it is still most revealing to me: "live your life fully, don't leave pages unturned." He seemed to had lived for an ideal of justice for the ones gone and perished in the genocide, and with that he could not live his life fully and he found that out at the end of his life...

110 Gold coins for freedom

After shelling 110 gold coins (they were true gold coins) my father walked to his freedom after WWII. Yes, he made the choice to leave the communist country he was living during the war, to walk through miles and a few other countries to get to the Allied Zone in Europe, and so he became a refugee in '48 at his arrival to Vienna. What could he done differently? Nothing, I guess, the historical circumstances had made him an emigrant/immigrant since his early years, and kept at that for his life. Today, he with his 94 years, with his insight tells me that capitalism triumphs at the end, and that events outside our realm shape our destiny. He has lived in five countries... pragmatism at the end.

New Media? What?????

Who is shaping public opinion... or what is public opinion? During this time, our time, we forget that "thinking" is at the core of our actions. The "new media" is shaping a new world, and we still don't fully understand the total transformation of our immediate geographical world.

From my corner: Where are we going?

The US says "this is the worst crisis of our history," Europe says "we are worried," China says "we are ready," and Latin America says "Welcome to the club."

We are moving into a different world!

Travels and tribulations

Where do I start? My last trip to Buenos Aires was a journey to a world I had not expected to see, live and learn. Inwards and outwards it was such an intense time. I live in Texas geographically away from there but, I have a virtual world so close to my fingertips. That is what is the real change in our world.
